General Growing Practices

We believe that strong, healthy soil supports strong, healthy plants.

Because of that, we choose not to use synthetic pesticides or synthetic fertilizers.

We utilize cover crops and minimal surface tillage to keep the soil structure intact and strengthen the soil with leaf litter, straw, horse manure, and fertilizers like soy meal and bone meal.

We also use tarps, row covers, insect netting, and other physical means to give our plants the best chances to thrive.

That being said, mother nature is mother nature, and we make countless mistakes, and we have crop setbacks and crop failures. We only hope that we learn from each of our mistakes.

But our land and soil get better and healthier each year, and we enjoy participating in this process just about every day.
